Two Bridges Community Transport in Fordingbridge

Getting to a hospital or GP appointment from a village around Fordingbridge is awkward if you do not drive. The X3 bus serves the town, but it does not reach every nearby parish, and it will not wait while you sit in a clinic. Two Bridges Community Transport exists for that gap.

The group is a volunteer service for residents of Fordingbridge, Alderholt, Damerham, Godshill and Sandleheath who need help reaching medical and dental appointments. Drivers use their own cars rather than a minibus fleet.

A duty coordinator takes calls on 07391 804222 on weekdays between 9am and 5pm and matches each trip to a volunteer. The line is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Callers are asked to give 48 hours’ notice so a driver can be found.

The work is local and specific. A lift to hospital. A dentist in town. A clinic that the bus cannot cover in time. Demand has risen as the client list has grown, which is why the group keeps asking for new volunteer drivers.

At the 2026 annual meeting the chairman reported around 1,000 jobs a year, with the client list still growing across those five parishes. There is no set fare. Clients who can donate do so. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage from those donations, and any surplus is passed on to medical causes.

Two Bridges has no public office and no website. The Facebook page and the booking number are how most people find it. The group is always looking for more drivers and coordinators, and fundraising sits alongside the day-to-day lifts. For a visitor staying with family, or anyone looking after a relative in these parishes, that number is the practical route to a lift when the bus will not do.
