News Round-Up

It has been a pretty quiet week in Fordingbridge, with not much in the way of big headlines. Here is a quick summary of what cropped up from 28 August to 4 September 2025.

On 30 August, Hampshire cops came across a burnt-out car and some dumped cannabis in the New Forest. It was not right in Fordingbridge town, but the area overlaps, so it made local chatter.

Police put out an appeal on 28 August after a burglary where thieves nicked four high-value bikes from a garage in Godshill Wood. The break-in actually happened the weekend before, between 22 and 23 August, but the call for witnesses went out this week. They are after any CCTV or dashcam footage, and folk can ring 101 with info.

The Ringwood and Fordingbridge Footpath Society had their Bring and Share Summer Lunch on 31 August at Godshill village hall, after a short walk. Their latest newsletter also chatted about summer walks they have done, like one at Cranbourne and a solstice jaunt, plus path clearing around the Avon Valley Path near town. They are planning an induction for new footpath wardens in September.

Some members of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service held a summer BBQ and catch-up in Fordingbridge on 31 August. It was a social for the control room team, and they dodged most of the rain.

On 3 September, word got out that applications for two new three-bedroom shared ownership homes at the Knightwood Chase development open on 17 September. It is part of a bigger setup with rented and shared properties, plus green bits like bird boxes and cycle paths.

That is about it, nothing too dramatic!
