The Hyde Club

The Hyde Club building in Hyde, New Forest

The Hyde Club was set up in 1928 by men who had returned from the First World War. It still operates as a private members’ club on Hern Lane in Hyde, a short way east of the A338 south of Fordingbridge and inside the New Forest National Park. The bar serves beers and wines, and the club hosts functions and events through the year.

The building has a country interior with memorabilia on the walls. In winter a real fire is lit. Outside there is seating, and dogs are welcome. Parking is available. Visitors who are not members can be signed in at the bar.

The club’s own site lists current summer hours as 3pm–8pm Monday to Thursday and Sunday, 3pm–9pm Wednesday, 3pm–10pm Friday and 1pm–10pm Saturday, with last orders half an hour before closing. Bank holidays open an hour earlier, and Friday and Saturday closing is extended to 10pm under the summer schedule.

The club sits among New Forest lanes and tracks, so it is used by people who have been out walking. Its own description is that it serves the community with beer, wine and company.

Membership is available through the website for those who want regular access and the members’ rate. Details of upcoming functions sit on thehydeclub.uk.

Anyone planning a visit can check the site or call 01425 652799 for the latest hours and to confirm visitor arrangements. The club remains a members’ bar rather than a walk-in pub.
