Alderholt Sports & Social Club

A family and dog-friendly private members’ club in Alderholt serves as a central hub for sports and social interaction near the New Forest. Established in 1986, it initially supported the local football club before expanding to include darts, pool, cricket, and tennis sections, all of which continue to form the core of its activities.

The club operates from a building at the Recreation Ground on Ringwood Road, constructed from interconnected prefabricated units that house the main bar area, cellar, and facilities.

Volunteer efforts have driven recent improvements, including a new roof, external cladding, and refurbished toilets, reflecting ongoing commitment to maintaining the premises.

Sports remain integral, with teams competing in football, cricket, tennis on adjacent hardcourts, and indoor games such as darts and pool. These sections draw participants who contribute to the club’s vibrant atmosphere through matches and related gatherings.

As a volunteer-led organisation, the club emphasises community involvement. A management committee oversees operations, supported by bar staff dedicated to providing a welcoming environment. Though a private members’ club requiring guests to sign in, it extends an open invitation to visitors to experience its offerings.

The premises include ample parking and access to the broader recreation ground, enhancing its role as a convenient venue for leisure pursuits.
